New Delhi, May 6: In response to the ongoing severe heatwave gripping the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday flagged off 13 Mobile Heat Relief Units from the Delhi Secretariat to provide immediate, on-ground support to residents.

The mobile units have been deployed across the city to assist vulnerable populations exposed to extreme temperatures. Each unit is equipped to distribute clean drinking water, ORS packets, and offer basic first aid services. To help people cope with the scorching heat, cotton gamchas and caps will also be provided.

Alongside the rollout, the Chief Minister released a Heat Action Plan Booklet aimed at improving public awareness and preparedness during heatwave conditions. The booklet outlines preventive measures and safety guidelines for citizens.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious by staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during peak hours, and taking necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

In case of emergencies, citizens can seek assistance through the 112 helpline.

The initiative is part of the Delhi government’s broader efforts to mitigate the impact of extreme weather conditions and ensure public safety during the summer months.
