Ahmedabad Hosts 138th Offshore Security Coordination Committee Meeting

Ahmedabad, May 21, 2026 — The 138th meeting of the Offshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) was held in Ahmedabad on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Director General Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, with a focus on strengthening the security architecture protecting India’s offshore installations and critical energy infrastructure.

The high-level meeting brought together representatives from multiple national security and maritime agencies, including the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Director General Hydrographer, DG Shipping, Intelligence Bureau, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and state police forces.

According to officials, discussions centered on the changing global and regional security environment, particularly the rise of unmanned and drone-enabled threats and the evolving nature of modern warfare. The committee also reviewed security preparedness in light of expanding offshore exploration activities in the Andaman and Nicobar region.

The OSCC emphasized the need to enhance maritime domain awareness, strengthen inter-agency coordination, improve surveillance capabilities, and develop robust joint response mechanisms to address emerging offshore security challenges.

The meeting underscored India’s continued focus on safeguarding its offshore assets and energy infrastructure amid growing strategic and economic activity in maritime zones.

The Offshore Security Coordination Committee serves as a key platform for coordinating maritime and offshore security among defence forces, government ministries, intelligence agencies, and energy sector stakeholders.
