Rekha Gupta Takes Oath as Delhi’s Fourth Female CM
Delhi witnessed a significant political shift as Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, took the oath as the 9th Chief Minister on Thursday at Ramleela Maidan. At 50, she has become the fourth woman to hold this position after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi.

Parvesh Verma, who defeated former CM Arvind Kejriwal in the recent elections and 5 others also took oath. The other newly appointed ministers include Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.

Before taking the oath, Rekha Gupta addressed the media, expressing gratitude to PM Modi and the BJP leadership for entrusting her with this responsibility. This is a huge responsibility, and I assure the people of Delhi that I will not live in Sheesh Mahal,” she stated.
The term ‘Sheesh Mahal’ was coined by the BJP to describe the lavish official residence of the Delhi CM, constructed during Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure. The BJP had accused Kejriwal of violating norms and spending crores on the property, making it a key issue during the election campaign.
