Khel Ratna Award 2024 : Here is the list of awards and winners The National Sports Awards 2024 were announced by the Sports Ministry on Thursday. These awards will honor players and coaches who have brought laurels to India in the Olympics, Paralympics, and other international competitions. The award ceremony will take place on January 17 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Khel Ratna Awards: Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award 2024
The players to be awarded the Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award this year are:
- Manu Bhaker (Shooting): Double medal winner at the Paris Olympics 2024.
- D Gukesh (Chess): 18-year-old World Chess Champion.
- Harmanpreet Singh (Hockey): Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics and Gold Medal at the Asian Games 2022.
- Praveen Kumar (Para Athlete): Gold medal at the Paralympics and Asian record holder.
Khel Ratna Awards: Arjuna Award 2024
This year, 34 players will be honored with the Arjuna Award, including 2 players in the Lifetime Achievement category.
Khel Ratna Awards: Dronacharya Award 2024
Five coaches will be honored with this prestigious award, two of whom have been included in the Lifetime Achievement category.
Khel Ratna Awards: Manu Bhaker’s Achievements
- Won bronze medals in the 10m air pistol individual event and mixed doubles at the Paris Olympics 2024.
- India secured 2 out of a total of 6 medals thanks to Manu’s performance.
Khel Ratna Awards: D Gukesh’s Historic Win
- The 18-year-old Indian Grandmaster defeated China’s Ding Liren at the 2024 World Chess Championship.
- Gukesh became the youngest player in the world to win this title, surpassing the previous record set by Russia’s Garry Kasparov, who won the title at the age of 22 in 1985.
Khel Ratna Awards: Harmanpreet Singh’s Contribution
- Played a key role in helping the Indian hockey team win bronze at the Paris Olympics 2024 and gold at the Asian Games 2022.
- Has won the FIH Player of the Year title three times.
Khel Ratna Awards: Praveen Kumar’s Paralympic Victory
- Won the gold medal in men’s high jump at the Paris Paralympics 2024 by clearing a height of 2.08 meters.
- Set a new Asian record.
