The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) SavitriBai Phule was on a routine patrol off the Mumbai coastline when it spotted a fire onboard an Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) in Position 190 Prongs Lt 21.
Quickly responding to the emergency, the crew of SavitriBai Phule confirmed that all the fishermen aboard the affected IFB had safely transferred to another nearby IFB before the situation escalated. Thankfully, there were no casualties.
The SavitriBai Phule has been actively engaged in fire-fighting operations (FF ops) to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. The crew continues to work diligently to manage the situation and ensure the safety of all vessels in the vicinity.
Authorities have commended the swift and efficient response of the Indian Coast Guard in mitigating the potential hazards of the fire, ensuring the safety of the fishermen, and protecting the marine environment.
