Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Lauds Indian Coast Guard in Goa, Calls it a “Force of Steel”

Panaji, May 21, 2025 — Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, visited Goa on Tuesday and interacted with officers and personnel of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), praising the force’s pivotal role in ensuring maritime security. The visit was marked by the presence of Goa Governor Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.

During the visit, Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (West), briefed the Vice President on the ICG’s operations and activities in the region. Shri Dhankhar lauded the Indian Coast Guard’s dedication, calling it a “Force of Steel” and highlighting its strategic importance in safeguarding India’s maritime borders.

The Vice President specifically acknowledged the ICG’s commendable role in “Operation Sindoor,” underlining the force’s unwavering commitment to national service. He urged the Goa government to extend full support to the Coast Guard to sustain its robust growth and operational excellence.

The Indian Coast Guard continues to play a vital role in maritime safety, environmental protection, and coastal surveillance, contributing significantly to India’s national security architecture.
