Navi Mumbai, June 18, 2025 — The architectural world is gearing up for Transformations 2025, a landmark international conference organized by the Council of Architecture (COA) in partnership with D.Y. Patil School of Architecture, Navi Mumbai. Scheduled from June 26 to 28 at the D.Y. Patil Centre of Excellence, the conference will spotlight how disruptive technologies are reshaping the future of design, architecture, and urban development.
Held in collaboration with prominent institutions including UGC, AICTE, the Norman Foster Institute (Spain), and the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), the conference will feature over 50 speakers—from visionary architects to urban theorists—exploring the theme “Co-scripting Change with Disruptive Technologies.”
“This conference is not only about what we build, but how we think, who we listen to, and what legacies we leave behind,” said Prof. Abhay Purohit, President of COA and Chief Patron of the event.
Dr. Vijay Patil, Chancellor of D.Y. Patil University and Co-Patron, added, “Our responsibility is not only to educate but to ignite. Through this platform, we’re investing in the ideas, technologies, and people who will shape the built spaces of tomorrow.”
Key Highlights of the Conference:
- Four thematic tracks covering historical, current, and speculative technological interventions in architecture and urbanism
- Keynote speakers include:
- Shajay Bhooshan (ZHA, London)
- João Albuquerque (BIG, Barcelona)
- Olivia Poston (Norman Foster Institute, Spain)
- Dr. Sergio Porta (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow)

According to Ar. Jayashree Deshpande, Convenor of the conference and Director of COA Training and Research Cell, Pune: “Disruption isn’t chaos. It’s a portal to innovation, justice, and resilience. Through Transformations 2025, we’re building a dialogue between academia and industry.”
Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Aparna Surve, Dean of D.Y. Patil School of Architecture and Co-Convenor, said: “This is a space where young minds meet lived wisdom. It’s about designing new questions as much as finding answers.”
Transformations 2025 will conclude with a dynamic Town Hall discussion, ensuring that the dialogue transcends disciplines and generations. With a robust Scientific and Publication Committee overseeing peer-reviewed proceedings, the event is poised to leave a lasting intellectual impact on global architectural discourse.
As the world of design faces an era of rapid technological evolution, Transformations 2025 aims not just to respond to these changes—but to shape the trajectory of future cities.
