Deadline for Property Tax Filing Approaches
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is urging property owners in the South Zone to file their property tax returns for the financial year 2024-25 before the impending deadline. With the end of the fiscal year approaching, the MCD is calling on all property owners who have not yet submitted their returns to do so promptly in order to avoid penalties and potential legal action.

Significant Progress, But Non-Compliance Remains

While the South Zone has seen significant improvements in property tax compliance this year, a number of property owners still remain non-compliant. The MCD emphasizes that property taxes are a crucial source of revenue that funds essential civic services, such as road maintenance, sanitation, and infrastructure development, all of which directly benefit residents.

MCD Encourages Timely Filing of Returns

Sh. Navin Kumar, Joint Commissioner (A&C) for South Zone, MCD, stated, “We urge all property owners in the South Zone to fulfill their civic responsibility by submitting their property tax returns on time. To make the process easier, we have streamlined the system through our online portal at mcdonline.nic.in. Assistance is also available at local MCD offices for anyone requiring help.”

Penalties for Non-Compliance: Know the Consequences

The MCD has highlighted that property owners who fail to comply risk facing penalties under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, which may include measures such as property attachment or bank account seizures to recover outstanding dues.
