IPL 2025 Playoffs Lineup Finalized After Mumbai Defeats Delhi

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has officially identified its top four playoff contenders with just one group-stage match remaining. On Wednesday, the Mumbai Indians secured their place in the playoffs by defeating the Delhi Capitals, eliminating them from the tournament in the process. With this victory, Mumbai became the fourth and final team to book a spot in the knockouts, while Delhi became the sixth team to bow out.

Mumbai Clinches Playoff Berth, Delhi Crashes Out

At Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium, the hosts delivered a dominant performance to seal a playoff berth. Batting first, the Mumbai Indians posted a formidable total of 180 runs. In response, Delhi Capitals faltered early, losing five wickets for just 65 runs. Despite a slight recovery, Delhi was bowled out for 121 runs, handing Mumbai a comfortable 59-run win.

  • This marked Delhi’s sixth defeat in 13 matches. With six wins, one no-result, and 13 points, even a victory in their final game against Punjab won’t be enough to secure playoff qualification.
  • Mumbai, on the other hand, earned their eighth win from 13 games, taking their points tally to 16 and placing them fourth in the standings. However, to break into the top two, MI must beat Punjab in their final league match and hope that both Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) lose their remaining fixtures.

Gujarat Titans Can Secure Top Spot with Victory Over Lucknow

The Gujarat Titans currently lead the points table with 18 points, having registered nine wins and three losses in 12 matches. They are set to face the Lucknow Super Giants, who are already out of the playoff race. A win today would take Gujarat’s tally to 20 points, solidifying their position at the top of the table.

However, GT cannot afford to relax just yet. To guarantee the number-one spot, they must also win their final league game against Chennai Super Kings.

Lucknow Looks to Spoil Gujarat’s Playoff Momentum

Although Lucknow Super Giants can no longer make it to the playoffs, they still have the potential to disrupt Gujarat’s playoff ambitions. With only 10 points from 12 matches (five wins), Lucknow will look to play party-poopers and dent Gujarat’s chances of finishing on top.

A win against GT will not impact LSG’s position in the standings, but it will put pressure on Gujarat ahead of their crucial final game.

Sai Sudharsan Leads IPL 2025 Run Charts

In the race for the Orange Cap, Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan has emerged as the leading run-scorer of the season. He has amassed an impressive 617 runs in 12 matches. Close behind him is teammate Shubman Gill with 601 runs.

Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav is not far off either. After scoring a brilliant 73 against Delhi, he moved up to third place with a total of 583 runs in the tournament so far.

Top Wicket-Takers: Prasidh Krishna and Noor Ahmad Dominate

In the bowling department, Gujarat’s pace sensation Prasidh Krishna is currently the leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets from 12 matches. He shares the top spot with Chennai’s spinner Noor Ahmad, who also has 21 scalps to his name.

Mumbai’s Trent Boult has quietly climbed the ranks and now holds the third position with 19 wickets.

Nicholas Pooran Emerges as the Tournament’s Six-Hitting Machine

When it comes to clearing the boundary, Lucknow’s Nicholas Pooran has made a name for himself. He has smashed 35 sixes in 12 matches, making him the top six-hitter of IPL 2025.

Following closely is Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav, who has launched 30 balls over the ropes. Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal sits in third with 28 sixes.

What’s Next in IPL 2025?

With the playoff teams now locked in, the final few group-stage games will determine the standings and matchups for the knockout rounds. While Mumbai, Gujarat, and two other teams have secured their spots, the fight for a top-two finish remains fierce.

Fans can expect thrilling performances as teams battle for strategic advantages going into the playoffs. A top-two finish offers the luxury of an extra chance to make the final, and teams will be leaving no stone unturned to grab it.

Stay tuned as IPL 2025 heads into its most exciting phase!
