New Delhi, June 19, 2025 — The Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd. (AIC) has been honoured with the ET Government PSU Leadership and Excellence Award 2025 in the Operational Excellence category for its groundbreaking digital initiative, SARUS.
The award was presented at the 7th PSU Summit & Awards Ceremony held in New Delhi on June 19, recognizing AIC’s efforts to revolutionize insurance access and delivery in rural India through technology.
SARUS, a mobile-based digital platform developed by AIC, addresses long-standing challenges in rural insurance enrolment, such as manual data entry, duplicate records, poor verification, and high fraud risks. The platform offers a 100% paperless workflow, from enrolment to claim settlement, streamlining insurance processes across agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors.
Key features of SARUS include:
- Secure enrolment using Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, or Driving License
- Biometric muzzle recognition for livestock for accurate identification
- Real-time data processing on a secure cloud-based system
- Integration with national platforms like DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), and Common Services Centres (CSCs)
The app enhances transparency, mitigates fraud, and improves insurance accessibility in underserved areas, significantly boosting financial inclusion and rural resilience.
“This recognition reinforces AIC’s commitment to innovation and service delivery in the agriculture sector,” the company said in a statement, emphasizing its leadership in leveraging technology for public welfare.
