Over 58.71 Crore Devotees Have Taken a Holy Dip So Far

Mahakumbh 2025 : The Mahakumbh in Prayagraj is witnessing an overwhelming rush as it enters its final weekend. As of Friday noon, approximately 68.09 lakh devotees have bathed in the holy Sangam, bringing the total count to a staggering 58.71 crore.

On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a crucial meeting with officials overseeing the Mahakumbh. He emphasized that the administration must leave no room for error, ensuring a smooth experience for the massive number of pilgrims visiting the Sangam. Special measures are being implemented to minimize the walking distance for devotees and manage the crowd effectively.

With the final weekend attracting a record turnout, more than 35 VIPs are scheduled to take a dip in the Sangam. Meanwhile, common pilgrims face challenges as they are required to park their vehicles outside the city and either use shuttle buses or walk up to 10 km to reach the ghats.

The surge in devotees has impacted local transportation and schooling. Eight trains to and from Prayagraj have been canceled until February 28, while routes of four trains have been altered. To manage the situation, schools up to Class 8 in Prayagraj will switch to online classes until further notice.

Spiritual Devotion: Pilgrims Offer Prayers at Sangam

Many devotees, after taking a dip in the sacred waters, perform rituals such as offering Arghya to the sun and praying for the well-being of their families. The last five days of Mahakumbh are expected to see an even greater surge in visitors, making it one of the most attended religious gatherings in history.

Authorities Urge Pilgrims to Plan Their Visit Wisely

With the final weekend rush in full swing, officials are urging devotees to plan their journey accordingly. Shuttle bus services are available, but delays are expected due to the heavy crowd. Visitors are advised to carry essentials, stay hydrated, and follow the designated routes to avoid inconvenience.
