In a significant boost to India’s hospitality and tourism infrastructure, Balmer Lawrie-backed startup NapTapGo has launched the country’s largest pod hotel in Amritsar, just minutes away from the iconic Golden Temple.
The new facility — NapTapGo Amritsar — features 56 modern pod-style rooms, including pods tailored for group and family stays, marking a first-of-its-kind innovation in India. Uniquely, it is also the first pod hotel globally to offer attached washrooms, blending affordability with convenience and comfort.
Located within an 8-minute walking distance from the Golden Temple, the hotel is strategically positioned to cater to the city’s massive daily influx of pilgrims and tourists. Amritsar regularly witnesses over 1 lakh visitors on weekdays and more than 2 lakhs on weekends.
Developed through Balmer Lawrie’s Startup Fund initiative, the project reflects the public sector company’s commitment to nurturing tech-driven, homegrown innovation. In January 2025, Balmer Lawrie had announced an INR 1 crore equity investment in NapTapGo, a startup focused on smart, affordable, and clean accommodations across India.
NapTapGo Amritsar brings a host of cutting-edge technologies to the budget hotel segment, including:

- AI-powered housekeeping
- IoT-enabled hygiene monitoring
These features underscore the startup’s cleanliness-centric and tech-first philosophy, aligning with the evolving expectations of modern travelers.
The launch also supports several government flagship missions such as Startup India, Make in India, and the promotion of spiritual and heritage tourism. It strengthens the city’s hospitality infrastructure while generating local employment and fostering entrepreneurial growth in the region.
