New Delhi, September 17, 2025 – Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sachet arrived at Mombasa on Wednesday, beginning a four-day visit aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation with the Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS) and promoting regional security in the Indian Ocean.
The port call marks a significant step in deepening the strategic partnership between India and Kenya. The visit will feature operational exchanges, joint capacity-building programmes, courtesy calls, professional interactions, and a harbour pollution response drill. Sporting activities and a joint yoga session have also been scheduled to highlight the people-to-people connect between the two maritime forces.
The visit will conclude with a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea, designed to enhance interoperability and validate coordinated operations in real-world maritime scenarios.

The deployment of ICGS Sachet reflects India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision, which focuses on regional maritime safety, trade security, and a sustainable blue economy. The mission aligns with India’s efforts to work with partners in the Global South to ensure safe and secure seas.
After Mombasa, Sachet will continue its overseas deployment with a port call in Cape Town, South Africa, further cementing India’s commitment to maritime collaboration across the Indian Ocean Region.
