New Delhi, June 26, 2025: In a major boost to India’s maritime security and self-reliance in defence manufacturing, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Wednesday inducted ‘Adamya’, the first Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) under the ambitious 08 FPV Project. The induction ceremony took place at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), marking a significant milestone in the nation’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Built entirely by GSL, ‘Adamya’ showcases India’s growing indigenous shipbuilding capabilities, with over 60% of its components sourced domestically. The vessel is the first of its class in the ICG fleet to feature Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPPs) and homegrown gearboxes, offering superior manoeuvrability and performance in coastal operations.

Equipped with advanced weaponry and cutting-edge technology, ‘Adamya’ includes a 30mm CRN-91 gun, two 12.7mm stabilized remote-controlled guns, and integrated control systems such as the Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS), and Automated Power Management System (APMS).

These high-tech features are designed to enhance the ICG’s operational efficiency, enabling faster and more precise responses to maritime threats, search and rescue missions, coastal surveillance, and enforcement of maritime law. The vessel will play a key role in protecting India’s vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and strengthening coastal security infrastructure.

Officials described the induction of ‘Adamya’ as a force multiplier for the Indian Coast Guard, reinforcing the strategic importance of indigenous defence manufacturing in safeguarding national interests at sea.

With ‘Adamya’ setting the benchmark for the remaining vessels under the 08 FPV Project, India’s push for technological self-reliance in the maritime domain continues to gain momentum.
