New Delhi, August 11, 2025: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) held their 8th High-Level Meeting (HLM) in New Delhi on Monday, further cementing the maritime partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
The Sri Lankan delegation, led by Rear Admiral Y.R. Serasinghe, Director General of SLCG, was welcomed by ICG Director General Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM. The visit by the SLCG delegation, scheduled from August 10 to 14, is part of ongoing engagements under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two maritime forces in 2018.

Talks during the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as marine pollution response, maritime search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement. Both sides also discussed initiatives for capacity building, technical assistance, and the exchange of best practices.

Reaffirming their shared commitment to regional maritime security, the ICG and SLCG agreed to strengthen operational coordination and work together to address contemporary challenges at sea. The meeting highlighted joint efforts to ensure safety, security, and environmental protection in the shared maritime domain.
The dialogue reflects the ongoing resolve of both nations to promote stability in the Indian Ocean region through sustained and collaborative maritime engagement.
