India and South Korea: New Delhi, July 21, 2025 — The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Korea Coast Guard (KCG) reaffirmed their commitment to regional maritime safety and security during the 13th High-Level Meeting (HLM) held in New Delhi on Monday. The bilateral talks marked another milestone in the growing strategic cooperation between the two maritime agencies.

The meeting was co-chaired by Director General S Paramesh, AVSM, PTM, TM, of the Indian Coast Guard, and Commissioner General Kim Yong Jin, who is leading a five-member KCG delegation on an official visit to India from July 20 to 24.

India and South Korea: Discussions focused on enhancing operational coordination in critical areas such as maritime search and rescue (SAR), pollution response (PR), and maritime law enforcement (MLE). Both sides emphasized the importance of joint exercises, personnel exchanges, and sharing of best practices—efforts that have been ongoing under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2006.

In a bid to further strengthen maritime and industrial ties, the Korean delegation is scheduled to visit Mumbai from July 23 to 24. The itinerary includes a tour of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and an Indian Coast Guard patrol vessel.

Officials noted that the meeting added fresh momentum to the long-standing cooperation between the two nations’ coast guards and reaffirmed their shared vision of a secure, safe, and environmentally sustainable maritime domain in the Indo-Pacific region.
