The 18th Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Investiture Ceremony, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, was a grand affair, celebrating the outstanding contributions of ICG personnel. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh conferred gallantry, distinguished service, and meritorious service medals to ICG personnel in a solemn and ceremonial event attended by senior government officials, ICG leadership, and families of the awardees.
The event also saw Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth, Defense Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, and Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM, join in the celebrations. The occasion underscored the courage, dedication, and selfless service of ICG personnel, often working under challenging conditions at sea.
Among the 32 awards presented during the ceremony were six President’s Tatrakshak Medals (PTM) for Distinguished Service, 11 Tatrakshak Medals (TM) for Gallantry, and 15 TMs for Meritorious Service. The medals recognized the exceptional acts of bravery and dedication that have been integral to safeguarding India’s maritime borders.
In a ceremonial highlight, Shri Rajnath Singh inspected the Ceremonial Guard, reflecting the gravity and significance of the occasion. The awards serve not only as individual recognition but also as a morale booster for the entire Indian Coast Guard, reinforcing their vital role in ensuring maritime security.
“This event stands as a testament to the courage, resilience, and commitment of the Indian Coast Guard,” said Shri Rajnath Singh during the ceremony. “The recognition of these brave men and women inspires all personnel to continue their mission of excellence and dedication to the nation.”
Following the ceremony, awardees and their families had the opportunity to interact with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and the Director General of the ICG, in line with tradition, making for a memorable and inspiring occasion.
The 18th Indian Coast Guard Investiture Ceremony not only celebrated individual heroism but also reinforced the ICG’s critical role in ensuring India’s maritime safety, especially amid evolving challenges on the high seas.
