In a remarkable start at the box office, Dhurandhar: The Revenge—popularly known as Dhurandhar 2—has set a new benchmark by becoming the highest opening-day grosser in Indian cinema, overtaking the record previously held by Jawan.
Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film reportedly earned over ₹97 crore on its first day alone, according to trade analysts. This surpasses the ₹75 crore opening of Jawan in 2023, signaling an extraordinary response from audiences across the country.

What makes the achievement even more impressive is the film’s strong performance even before its official release. Paid preview screenings contributed an additional ₹47 crore, pushing the combined total to a staggering ₹144 crore within just a day.
Trade platform Sacnilk reports that advance bookings for the opening weekend have already crossed ₹200 crore. Typically, 40–50% of seats are reserved in advance, but the current trend suggests an unusually high demand. Industry experts are now projecting that the film could comfortably cross ₹500 crore in business between Thursday and Sunday.
A Lengthy Yet Ambitious Cinematic Experience
Clocking in at 3 hours and 49 minutes, Dhurandhar 2 ranks among the longest Bollywood films of the 21st century. It trails only behind LOC Kargil, which had a runtime of over four hours. Interestingly, the international version of the film is slightly longer, extending to 3 hours and 55 minutes.

The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast, including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. It is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, with additional production support from Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. The project is presented by Jio Studios under the banner of B62 Studios.
Sequel Builds on a Blockbuster Legacy
The phenomenal opening of Dhurandhar 2 builds on the massive success of its predecessor. The first installment of the franchise turned out to be a global blockbuster, collecting approximately ₹1,303 crore worldwide.
In India alone, the original film recorded a gross collection exceeding ₹1,005 crore, with net earnings close to ₹837 crore, making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi-language films ever. Internationally, it performed equally well, earning nearly ₹300 crore overseas.
Notably, the film achieved exceptional success in North America, particularly in the United States and Canada, where it outperformed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in earnings. This accomplishment came despite the film not being released in Gulf countries—a factor that makes its global success even more striking.
Additionally, Dhurandhar holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film to date.
